When she was 19 at the time, she dropped her debut single Here. The song was an instant smash and garnered praise from critics and listeners alike. The song peaked at number 19 on both the Canadian Hot 100 as well as the Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone called the track one of the Top Songs in 2015. That same year she debuted her first album Know It All, the song Scars to Your Beautiful ranked in the Billboard Hot 100 and Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200. It was also among the first five songs. The track was distinctive because many people related to the conversation she conducted with Rap-Up about her struggle to learn to love and embrace herself. Cara is known for incorporating the themes of mental health and compassion and self-love in her songs. Everything stems from her personal experiences as she been battling mental health issues as well as insomnia. In a Reuters interview, she has described her album half tumultuous however, it is half finished. The growth of her career was helped through therapy. She encourages others who need help to reach out for help. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto, Canada. She was born July 11, 1996, to parents with Italian heritage. Her first guitar was purchased from her parents at the time she was 10, which ignited the passion for music. She started covering her favourite songs at age thirteen to show everyone that she was a talented musician and the determination required to be the next singer. One of the songs Sweater Weather was able to get her noticed by a record label named EP Entertainment which allowed her to create and write her tracks.
